National exposition of the Republic of Belarus in Cuba

The national exposition of the Republic of Belarus started its work in the framework of the International Exhibition FIHAV, which takes place in Cuba from October 30^th to November 3^rd.

In terms of importance, the FIHAV exhibition is one of the three largest exhibition events in Latin America. Every year the trade show is attended by more than 4 thousand companies from 60 countries, including Brazil, Great Britain, Vietnam, Spain, Canada, China, Mexico, Russia, Ukraine, France, Czech Republic, Chile, Ecuador, South Africa attend trade show every year.  

Traditionally Cuba has great authority in Latin America, which explains why many countries сonsider the FIHAV exhibition as a platform for entering Latin American countries market. The event boasts high popularity and impressive size.

The national exposition of the Republic of Belarus in Cuba was represented for the first time. The opening ceremony of exposition was held on October 30 with the participation of Vitaly Vovk, the Minister of Industry, and Alexander Alexandrov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in the Republic of Cuba, Vyacheslav Bril, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce, Valery Shevchuk, General Director of the holding “BELFARMPROM”, Antonio Luis Carricarte Corona, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment, Odalis Seijo Garcia, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, representatives of Cuban state departments and business circles, heads of Belarusian industrial enterprises

Vitaliy Vovk has noted in his speech: “One of the goals of participation in the exhibition is new contacts and new partners. But the main goal for Belarusian industry is to advance into the Cuban market more actively. We have all prerequisites for it. New partners and new mechanisms have recently appeared. Keeping in mind the president's message to cooperate closely with Cuba, I am sure that we will implement our ambitious plans. The Cuban market is mostly interested in MAZ, Amkodor and MTZ products. We also plan to ship Gomselmash machines. In general, all the products made in Belarus today can be in demand on the Cuban market. These are just agreements  but everything is not easy and there is also complicated negotiation process underway”.

An agreement on cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba was signed at the opening ceremony.

The Belarusian delegation is expected to hold a number of meetings and negotiations with the leaders of six Cuban ministries and government departments.

Cuba is the leading importer of Belarusian industrial products in Latin America. The tractor Belarus is widely known in the country as well as MAZ and Gomselmash vehicles, which are also being supplied.

More than 20 Belarusian organizations and enterprises took part in the National Exposition: Minsk Tractor Works, Gomselmash, Belagromash, Amkodor, Belorussian Steel Works, BelAZ.

The exposition featured a collective stand organized by the State Science and Technology Committee to highlight scientific advancements and innovative products.

Medical services and pharmaceuticals were represented by Belmedpreparaty and Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology. Minsk Automobile Plant presented machines for the transport of large loads, truck MAZ-551605 with a load capacity of 20 tons and truck tractor MAZ-544008.

"“Our machinery is in demand because it is reliable; it meets the requirements of the local market. And in the last four years MAZ delivered about 400 vehicles to Cuba in the last four years, said Vitaliy Goncharik, Deputy Commercial Director of MAZ.
