The Uzbekistan – Belarus Agro Forum took place in Tashkent on November 24. The event confined to the Belarusian Pavilion at the agricultural and food exhibitions UzAgroExpo and UzProdExpo. A contract for delivery of Belarusian machinery to Uzbekistan and other documents were signed within the framework of the event.
A wide range of issues on trade and economic cooperation of the two countries in agriculture and food production, financial aid to export of Belarusian goods and services to Uzbekistan, aspects of promotion thereof at the local market, and cooperation of cattle breeding was discussed at the meeting.
Reports were presented by Mr. Alexey Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Alisher Turaev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Director General of the National Center of Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture, Mr. Leonid Marinich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of Belarusian machine building, meat packing and dairy plants, Council of Farming Dehkkan Property and Owners of Garden Plots of Uzbekistan, and others.
The event brought together senior officials of relevant ministries and agencies from Belarus and Uzbekistan, representatives of Belarusian and Uzbek businesses, academic and stock-raising institutions, agro industrial experts from both countries.
17 companies represented Belarus in the national pavilion, including Slonim Meat-Packing Plant, well-known dairy brands Bellakt and Primemilk, a coffee producer Manrosti, the State Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Belarus, universities, machine building companies Minsk Automobile Plant and Lidselmash, confectionary plants Kommunarka, Krasny pischevik, Slodych, Spartak and Brestsky likero-vodochny zavod “Belalko” affiliated to concern Belgospischeprom.
Among other participants were Grodno Meat-Packing Plant, Belarusian State Association for Livestock Breeding Belplemzhivobedinenie, GomelAgroPromProekt Institute, Scientific and Production Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Agricultural Mechanization, company Belvitunifarm and farming enterprise Yagodka.
The Forum featured representatives of major distribution networks in Uzbekistan Makro and Korzinka, as well as distribution companies Asia National Distributor, BelFood, East Distribution, Ice Cream, Uldash Consalt, Unifood.
“Uzbekistan has been a strategic partner of Belarus for many years. We elaborated a number of lines for short-term cooperation. In the first line, this refers to construction and renovation of commercial dairy farms in Uzbekistan based on Belarusian technologies. Our partners in Uzbekistan are interested in improving professional qualifications of their agricultural specialists at the Belarusian universities. Moreover, they are interested in cooperation in veterinary science, and experience of development of the sugar industry in Belarus,” outlined Mr. Alexey Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, when talking to journalists in Tashkent.
“Uzbekistan holds great value for the industry which is the national pride of Belarus – agricultural mechanization. Tractors and cultivators are already in our fields, but only in some regions. We would like to see them in all regions of Uzbekistan because of their good quality and price,” said Mr. Alisher Turaev, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Director General of the National Center of Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture.
The final protocol of the 2d session of the Uzbekistan-Belarus Working Group for Agriculture and Food Industry, held on November 23 in Tashkent, was signed during the Uzbekistan – Belarus Agro Forum, as well as an agreement between an authorized distributor of Minsk Automobile Plant in Uzbekistan - MAZ-TASHKENT - and NURAFSHON MAXSUS TEXNIKA on delivery of machinery to the amount of 1 USD Million.
The Uzbekistan – Belarus Agro Forum is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Belarusian pavilion at the agricultural and food exhibitions UzAgroExpo and UzProdExpo is organized by Exhibition Unitary Enterprise “Belinterexpo” of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
