Signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents between companies from Belarus and Kazakhstan was one of the major results of the Kazakhstan-Belarus Agro Forum. The Forum is confined to the national exposition of the Republic of Belarus as part of the 23d Central Asian International Food Industry Exhibition - FoodExpo Qazaqstan, taking place in Almaty on November 3 through 5, 2021.

The Forum featured 11 Belarusian companies-participants of the national exposition of the Republic of Belarus: meat producers Grodno, Glubokoe and Mogilev Meat-Packing Plants, as well as Veles-Meat company; the country’s leading dairy brands – Babushkina krynka, Molochny Gostinets, Slutsk Cheese-Making Plant, Polotsk Dairy Plant, Rogachevsky MKK, Lepel MKK, Glubokoe dairy-canning factory.

The Forum also featured special guests from Belarus: Scientific Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Agricultural Mechanization, Scientific and Practical Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for Animal Husbandry, BelVitunipharm, Milkavita, Novogrudok Gifts, Oshmyany Cheese-Making Plant. 

Reports were delivered by Mr. Rustem Kurmanov, Vice Minister for Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Igor Brylo, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Pavel Utyupin, Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Kazakhstan, lead experts and specialists of Kazakhstan and Belarus.

On the Kazakhstan side the reports were delivered by the representatives of the chain stores Anvar, Prima Distribution, Magnum Cash&Carry, QazTrade Trade Policy Development Center, QAZYNA cattle breeding organizations, Rodina Faring Company, Republican Chamber of Dairy and Combined Breeds of Big Cattle, financial companies EIC KazakhExport, Kazakhstan Agro Innovation Corporation. 

“The Agro Forum is very important not only for Belarus, but for Kazakhstan as well: a range of Belarusian products exported into this country is constantly growing, that is why it so crucial to meet sales agents – people who promote our products on this vast market,” said Mr. Igor Brylo during the event.

Participants discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries in agro-industrial sphere and finished-product output; issues of raw materials for agriculture in Kazakhstan and Belarus; options for innovative financing facilities of the agro-industrial complex and finished product output; export support tools; requirements of the distribution networks to suppliers; samples of successful cooperation.

A number of documents were signed at the Forum, including:

  • A contract between Rogachevsky MKK and EURASIA DS for canned milk;
  • An agreement on cooperation in pedigree livestock farming between Belarusian State Association for Livestock Breeding Belplemzhivobedinenie and the company Olzha Agro;
  • A memorandum of intent between the companies Gomelagrokomplekt and Olzha Agro;

·         A memorandum of intent between the companies Milkavita and Olzha Agro;

  • A contract for project documentation development between the GomelAgroProekt Institute and Olzha Agro.

Before the Forum, the Belarusian delegation had a meeting with the Deputy Head of Administration of Almaty – Mr. Maksat Kikimov, and the management of the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, the country’s leading agrarian university. Successful operation of the Kazakhstan-Belarus Agro Engineering Innovation Center set up with support of the Belarusian companies in 2019 was marked here. Mr. Rustem Kurmanov emphasized that training of qualified professionals, who are able to address current issues of the agricultural sector in compliance with up-to-date requirements, is an essential key factor for the agro-industrial complex.

Organizers of the Kazakhstan-Belarus Agro Forum are: the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Exhibition Unitary Enterprise “Belinterexpo” of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The moderator of discussions was the Director of “Belinterexpo” of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry – Mr. Evgeniy Vvedenskiy.
