A Series of Events with Participation of the Belarusian Delegation Took Place in Tashkent Right Before the Exhibitions
A series of events with participation of the Belarusian delegation took place in Tashkent right before the agricultural and food exhibitions UzAgroExpo and UzProdExpo highlighting the National Pavilion of the Republic of Belarus. In particular, a session of the Uzbekistan-Belarus Working Group for Agriculture and Food Industry was held, and representatives of exhibiting companies visited distribution networks of Uzbekistan.
The second session of the Uzbekistan-Belarus Working Group for Agriculture and Food Industry took place in participation of Mr. Alexey Bogdanov, Head of the Belarusian delegation, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, Mr. Anvar Asamov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Leonid Marinich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospischeprom, veterinary and stock-raising institutions, scientific institutions, agricultural and technical universities of Uzbekistan and Belarus, as well as farming enterprises.
Participants of the session discussed a wide range of issues: prospects of enhanced cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus in agriculture, stock-raising and veterinary science; cooperation in education and science; cooperation in setup and modernization of commercial dairy farms in Uzbekistan; prospects for participation of the two countries in agricultural exhibitions UzAgroExpo and UzProdExpo.
“Over the last five years the commodity turnover between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan witnessed a sevenfold increase! In nine months 2021 (January through September) the Belarusian food export to this country reached 61.5 USD Million. This is a 15.6 percent increase compared to the same period last year,” noted Mr. Alexey Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Belarus, during the session in Tashkent.
As a result of the session, agreements were reached on cooperation in construction of commercial dairy farms in the Tashkent Region between the company Institute GomelAgroPromProekt and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, involving foreign investments. Other session results include intentions on cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus in the fields of potato farming, agricultural education, etc.
Participants of the Belarusian delegation also visited major distribution networks of Uzbekistan: Makro and Korzinka. The Marko network incorporates 108 stores in Tashkent and other cities, and the company has over 3.5 thousand employees. The Korzinka network is famous for its “round-the-corner stores” and small-scale wholesale points.
The Republic of Belarus will be represented by 17 exhibiting companies at UzAgroExpo and UzProdExpo exhibitions that will be held in Tashkent on November 24 through 26. These companies will demonstrate new products in food industry, agricultural machine building and science. Best practices and achievements of Belarus and Uzbekistan in the agro industrial field will be also discussed during the Agro Forum Uzbekistan - Belarus that will be held on November 24.
The Belarusian pavilion at UzAgroExpo and UzProdExpo is organized by Exhibition Unitary Enterprise “Belinterexpo” of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
